On any given day there will be billions of people online among the popular social media platforms and of those numbers many will be seeking to make money, build their brand and expand their influence.
This leaves you being ONE in a million or ONE in a billion when it comes to being heard among the online community. If you want to be heard among the crowds, who are all yelling for attention, then you must be relentless in your activity, relentless in your attitude and relentless in your drive.
Relentless(adj)
1. Unyielding in severity or strictness; unrelenting: relentless persecution.
2. Steady and persistent; unremitting: a relentless drumbeat.
You don’t necessarily have to be the loudest voice in the digital online space, but you have to be a consistent voice. You have to be that voice that is known for being present, known for bringing new ideas, bringing new inspiration and bringing useful tools.
In the following paragraphs, I would like to show you a few ways to be relentless as you go after your goals online.
One and done won’t get it!
As I said earlier there are potentially billions of voices online during any given day, so to be heard you have to stand out. Posting once a week and then letting gaps of time(days, weeks, months) go by without posting again won’t cut it! You don’t have to be the loudest voice, but you have to be a consistent voice.
If you are just starting out online then you might have to go all out in a relentless manner and post multiple times a week. Ideally, you should post everyday. Don’t worry about overwhelming your audience. The algorithms may not show your content to the same two people, so to reach a broader audience you might have to post multiple times to reach a greater number of people.
If you are worrying about what you can post several times a week, then consider the idea of repurposing content you already have produced. Read my article about the power of repurposing content.
Once you get yourself established you can dial back your relentless posting to a couple times a week.
Keep it real with reels
If you are trying to get some bang for your buck traction then try creating short engaging videos and uploading them to the reels option on your social media platform of your choice.
Instagram has reels, so YouTube and Facebook have followed suit with this video sharing option. Reels usually have high engagement and will get you seen more so than other posting options.
The videos you create only have to be 60 to 90!seconds long, so this is something you can shoot with your smartphone throughout the day. Because of the small length of the videos, they can be shared multiple times a week to feed your audience.
Whatever your subject is, break it down into digestible small bites. This will establish you as a thought leader, keep your brand present among the other voices and keep your audience hungry for more(your longer form content).
Be Seen… Be Heard!
You don’t have to be on every social media platform, but figure out a good 2-3 places to set up shop and regularly post.
The main social media sites are Facebook, Instagram, X, Linkedin, Pinterest and video sharing sites are YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat.
My usual platforms are Facebook for communication, Instagram for images(and reels), Linkedin for business networking and YouTube/TikTok for video content sharing.
If you struggle with content ideas for more than one platform then work the power of repurposing content. For example, If you have a video, turn the audio into a podcast, turn powerful quotes from an article you wrote into shareable social media graphics or turn a few 1-2 minute clips from that video into reels.
Using this strategy, you will have plenty of shareable content on any given week to keep you and your brand relevant in the eyes of your audience.
Conclusion
We have explored three strategies that you can combine with your relentless attitude to build your brand online and establish yourself as a thought leader among the millions of other voices all crying out for attention.
Don’t be discouraged by so many competing voices. Work on making your voice and brand stand out with consistency, providing value and being a problem solver.
