Nearly two years ago, I attended a local workshop promoting AI technology, ChatGPT and prompting. I had heard about ChatGPT prior to this workshop, but I hadn’t taken the plunge into this new world yet. I was interested in this new technology as I was exploring a shift into the tech field. Earlier in the year(2023), I received a cert in digital marketing and, at the time, I was pursuing a cert in web development. I entered the workshop on a Saturday morning and this experience would change my life and my approach to my business plans tremendously.
We all laughed in the class at the shared experience of fearing a skynet type scenario when we heard about the advancements in AI. For those who may not be familiar “skynet” in the Terminator films(starting in 1984) was an artificial intelligence system that became self aware and launched a nuclear war against humanity. Ever since that series of movies some have referenced this cataclysmic outcome as a negative against AI.
What I learned in this workshop is that ChatGPT is democratizing artificial intelligence for everyone. Whereas once artificial intelligence was thought of as the exclusive domain of the tech geniuses and other highly educated scientist types, this technology is now in the hands of the common man and woman via their smartphones, tablets, laptops or computers. From that day till now AI has been a Godsend in my business endeavors.
I am a digital marketing specialist and operate in that domain as my business interest, however as a start up I have functioned as a one person operation. With ChatGPT(AI) as my trusty companion I now operate as though I have a full team behind me. As a start up or small business, the budget may not be there to hire all the help you need, so you struggle through wearing many hats. AI has allowed me to bounce off ideas to get to the best idea. It has allowed my to repurpose my content easily and effortlessly. It has allowed me to streamline my workflow so I work smarter not harder.
In fact, I bounced off the ideas for this blog post to ChatGPT to get a decent outline. I told ChatGPT I will write the blog post myself, but here are a few of my ideas(title, subsections, etc). Within seconds my scattered thoughts were organized and I had a great outline to work from. See how that saved me time?
Whether you are a solo enterprise, working with a small team or small budget, AI can give you the power of a small team. I know that sounds like a commercial selling you something(smile), but it is true.
From the time I personally began using AI in the summer of 2023 till now this technology has grown and will continue to grow as we see AI being integrated into various aspects of daily life. This trend will only continue until very soon AI is common and we will wonder how we made it without this amazing tech. Therefore, don’t wait until “everyone” is doing it. Start learning about and using AI as a business, entrepreneur, creative, etc to take your endeavors to the next level. Remember, work smarter not harder.!

Try generating a personalized email for a prospect using AI and compare it to your manual one.
Address the Elephant in the Room: “But What If I’m Not Techy?”
- Bust the fear: You don’t need to be an engineer, you just need curiosity.
- Learning curve is minimal when you start small.
