Greetings everyone — it’s Mustafaa, your digital marketing specialist and founder of the Digital Domination Tribe. I’m back with another message to help you navigate this crazy, ever-changing digital landscape — especially when it comes to social media.

Let’s keep it real: building a brand on social media today is hard. Not impossible, but definitely not like it used to be.

Remember When It Was Easy?

About 15 years ago — I’m talking around 2010 — you could set up a Facebook business page, walk away from it, and come back weeks later with a flood of new followers. No content strategy. No paid ads. No stress. Just vibes and visibility.

I know because I did it. I created a page back then, didn’t think much of it, and when I checked later, I had thousands of followers. Facebook’s algorithm had done the work for me — just like that.

Same thing with YouTube. I was an early adopter and dropped my first video in 2007. One video. And it took off. It did better than some of the content I carefully craft today. That was back when YouTube’s algorithm was still focused on exposure and discovery. A few years later, I uploaded more content, and again, the results were amazing. Eventually, I joined one of YouTube’s early partner programs and started earning money — all from organic momentum.

But fast forward to now — 2025 — and things look a lot different.

The New Digital Reality

These platforms are big business now. They’re not handing out visibility like they used to. They want your money.

Facebook, for instance, will only show your post to about 6–10% of your audience. That’s it. You could have 10,000 followers and only a few hundred people might even see your post. Out of those, just a small fraction will engage.

Let me break it down this way:

  • Visibility is like someone driving past your store — they see it from the outside.
  • Engagement is when they actually pull into the parking lot, walk in, and check out what you offer.

Now imagine you’re running a store where thousands of people drive by every day, but only a few ever step inside. That’s what today’s social media feels like if you’re not investing in paid reach.

You’re Not Doing It Wrong — The Game Has Changed

Even when you’re doing everything “right” — from quality content and hashtags to optimized posting times — it can still feel like you’re shouting into the void.

I’ve seen creators with hundreds of thousands of followers barely pulling in a few likes per post. That disconnect isn’t about bad content — it’s about algorithms designed to limit reach unless you pay to expand it.

But here’s the good news…

You Can Still Win — But You’ve Got to Play Smart

You have two choices:

  1. Pay to play with ads and boosted posts.
  2. Play the long game.

I’m a big believer in the long game. That means planting content seeds over time — not looking for instant gratification. When you stay consistent, you build up a content library and start attracting your tribe.

When you build a tribe, the algorithm becomes less of a barrier. Your people show up for you no matter what. I’ve got a page with over 20,000 followers that I let sit for 6–7 months. When I finally came back and posted again, it was slow at first — but I stayed consistent. Now that page is back alive and pulling 60, 70, even 100+ interactions per post. I even received another payout from Facebook because of it.

The Secret Is Consistency + Value

You have to treat each post like a seed — whether it’s a meme, carousel, quote, or video. Keep showing up. Keep serving your audience.

And don’t guess — check your insights. Find what resonates and double down on that. If something isn’t working, stop doing it. Your audience will tell you what they want through their engagement.

Ultimately, your goal is to become the go-to person in your space. Not just another creator, but someone people seek out when they need solutions, inspiration, or expertise.

And all of this takes one thing above all: patience.

There will be days when you post and get no likes. No comments. No traction. But that doesn’t mean you stop. You keep showing up like the next one is going to be the one. And even if that post doesn’t take off, you keep that mindset going.

You may not see the results immediately, but if you believe in the value of what you’re creating, that belief will carry you through. As the saying goes, “We walk by faith, not by sight.” In this case, it’s faith in your craft, your strategy, and your consistency.

5 Action Steps to Start Growing Your Tribe Today:

  1. Shift from a short-term mindset to a long-game strategy. Stop expecting instant success. Start focusing on the next 6–12 months of consistent value.
  2. Plant content seeds consistently. Post useful, engaging, and varied content — carousels, memes, short videos, inspirational quotes. Every post is a seed.
  3. Watch your insights and double down on what works. Don’t guess. Use your analytics to see what gets traction — then do more of that.
  4. Build your tribe, not just your follower count. Focus on quality engagement. Respond to comments. Create for your people, not the algorithm.
  5. Post when you show up best. Don’t get stuck chasing “best time to post” rules. If you have real fans, they’ll show up whenever you do.

If you found this helpful and you’re ready to dig deeper, let’s talk. Whether you’re just getting started or tired of spinning your wheels with no traction, I can help you develop the digital strategy and rhythm you need to build your brand the smart way.
